What NOT To Do When Strong New Desires Bubble Up

Tips for avoiding sickness and reaching the goals that mean the most to you

There’s nothing like a fresh new hit of clarity, is there?

I’m calling myself on the carpet on this one in hopes that it brings you some fresh new clarity too.

So I’ve totally been spinning in my head lately.

New desires are bubbling up that are so strong (and scary) I can hardly let myself acknowledge them.

And since the only fear we ever really fear is the fear of feeling a feeling we don’t want to feel, I’ve become a Master at distracting myself from those desires and feelings––overbooking myself with interviews, speaking gigs, website changes, product launches, training new employees, and travel.

All of which is justified because it’s “growing my business”… right?

Wrong.

Maybe for the short term, but it’s not sustainable. Sure I get new leads and more gigs as a result of putting myself out there, and that looks good on paper.

But what about my spirit? My play time? My body? There’s a reason I’m sick right now!

I didn’t take care of myself.

And how can I grow my business if my body shuts down?

This kind of go-go-go without proper self-care is too rigid, too masculine, too FORCED.

How could I have forgotten that “nothing I want is upstream”? (Thank you, Abraham-Hicks.) That the natural unfolding of everything my life has caused me to desire awaits me “downstream”––in that state of trust and easefulness that accompanies a smoother, more feminine, consistent-baby-steps approach to action?

I forgot it because it runs counter to everything society has taught me to believe.

Of course, I forgot it. I forget it 10 times a day!

So I wanted to check in with you and make sure YOU hadn’t forgotten that, too.

Often times the busier we get, the harder and harder it gets to stop and pay attention to our internal guidance––to what’s alive inside us: our TRUTH!

And I’ll tell you what else…

The things we feel most compelled to do, that really light us up, those are the very things we most resist doing. Because they’re what will stretch us and challenge us the most.

They’re the exact things our soul CRAVES in order to evolve to its next level of greatness.

So keep an eye out for that pesky resistance. It points the way to what matters most… to the project or endeavor you must do BEFORE all others!

In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt:

You must do the thing you think you cannot do.

If you find yourself spinning in your head or over-booking yourself to the point of making yourself sick, remember to check in, notice how you feel, and pay attention to unmet needs and desires that you might be stuffing or ignoring.

Then give yourself full permission to take important steps towards meeting those needs and desires.

Doing so might just unlock the door to your next level of expansion––and probably your greatest success too!

P.S. I wanna send a shout-out to my girl Dena, one of my private coaching clients whose courage to speak her truth and go after what she truly wants inspired me to write this email. XO
